archeology 101
Last Sunday we went out to an old farmstead east of town where Ivo's friend's parents were leading an archeological dig for grad students and volunteers. Now for playing in the sandbox Ivo wants to have a tape measure, a clip board, and a big box sifter. I can only imagine what wonders he will find.

What a fun day for Ivo! Maybe he will find "treasure" in his sandbox--especially if Mama hides a few old keys or trinkets in there for him to unearth!

Awesome! I popped over after seeing you on the crafty cow today! P likes to make her sandbox
a 'dig" one day and the next it is a "beach".
Some days we add lots of water and make it a tidal pool.lol
We still love our sandbox, although we need a bigger one!

Oh, I bet you he'll remember that experience for a long time. My parent's had really good friends in Ireland who were both archeology professors. One year when I was about 7 we went on a dig with them with their grad students. It was incredible! I was just in awe of the fact that history was buried below me. After that experience I got really into Egyptology! I wanted to know everything about King Tut! I firmly believe children need to be actively involved in learning, to be really exposed to so many awesome things. Imagine how many new little learning paths have opened up in his brain because of that experience? Down with stuck in desks all day and up with field trips!!! What a good experience for Ivo.

That looks like so much fun! I can just imagine how excited Ivo will be when he finds a treasure in his sandbox...I may have to try that with CJ. Congratulations on the Crafty Crow mention! :o)
