Josh and I have awoken to this joyful little refrain every day of Christmas vacation. It's not really a vacation, it's more of a work-at-home week because the school offices are closed, but it has been so wonderful to have more time together as a family. Especially for Josh and Ivo. Here they are having another one of their (in)famous jam sessions.
It's amazing how musical instruments can turn our mild-mannered boy into, well, imagine Animal from the Muppets. This picture is from the other day but they are already at it again this morning. I can hear Josh out in the livingroom tuning his acoustic guitar and Ivo strumming the neck of an old electric guitar while singing, or rather shouting, "amp! amp! amp!" He just learned how to adjust the settings on an old Marshall practice amps so that has brought his enjoyment to a whole new level. He thinks feedback is awesome, or excuse me, "Aw-FUM!" I tell ya it's like a Velvet Underground concert here every day. pretty awfum!
(I have to add here that just as I finished typing this post, Ivo appeared at the door, hands on hips, and asked me to "rock and roll mama," in his sweet baby voice, "mama rock and roll please". So I am sitting in on this session even though I always get stuck with the tambourine. I guess rock is still mostly a boys club, even when the boy is only two. Still, how can I pass up an invitation like that? )
