This afternoon's events were brought to us by the inspiration found in Weekend Warrior's blog. I stumbled upon her blog last night and read the entire thing in one sitting. Such fabulous creativity did I find, and such wonderful, practical ideas for homemade, hand made playthings for toddlers.
I was particularly moved by the arts and crafts projects she and her children do. They are simple and fun, showing a real appreciation for what young toddlers *can* do and *want* to do. The temptation to push past these most basic sensory experiences and make something "more" can be hard to resist at times, but after being reminded of the beauty of real toddler art, I came up with this idea for today. We cut lengths of yarn, which is a brand-new skill for Ivo, and wrapped the pretty "noodles" around pinecones. Then we cut some more noodles and glued them to paper. Then we cut some more noodles just for the fun of it. (And those are Josh's hairy arms in the picture not mine.)
Now isn't that pretty? And lots of fun, too.
